Learn to make this sturdy and striking raised-bed planter that accommodates climbing plants and hanging pots. The class will include instruction on reading a plan, measuring and milling the bed pieces from stock lumber, using a chop saw and a sliding compound mitre saw, and proper use of drills and drivers. No prior woodworking experience is necessary. The only tools students need to bring are a tape measure and a combination square with a 12” blade (don’t worry if you don’t have these tools – we have some for you to use at the Shop).

This versatile raised bed is 4’ long x 2’wide; the planting bed is 16.5” deep, with a chicken wire backing for climbing plants and/or hanging pots that measures to 5’ tall. Please note: you will need a truck or large vehicle to get this project home. We are happy to deliver locally if you don’t have a larger vehicle and need some help!

Your Instructor: John Harvey is one of LBS’s professional boat builders. A long time woodworker, John is a graduate of IYRS’s Wooden Boat Building and Restoration program in Newport, RI and has been with Lowell’s for just over four years.
