Lowell Salisbury Point Rowing Skiff
This
design was developed by the Boat Shop in the 1860s for recreational
use on the river. The boat is the original design which was built up until
the mid-1920s, when outboard motors became widely available. The use of
outboards required some modifications in the design, i.e. a broader bottom
aft and fuller section forward, and is now known as our Merrimack Rowing
Skiff. Now that recreational rowing is returning to popularity, this lovely
rowing skiff is again being built from its original patterns and is rapidly
gaining in use. It is a very seaworthy boat to row, safer and more stable
for family use than the canoe. We will also equip them for sailing with
a sprit or lug rig.
Copper and bronze fastenings, epoxy sealed garboards and bottoms and
a pair of bronze oarlocks are standard.

Since all Lowell boats are handmade from patterns, dimensions are approximate.
We reserve the right to alter our specifications when appropriate without
prior notice. All boats are painted inside and out with three coats of
quality marine paint in our standard colors: white outside, Amesbury Green
or Ocean Gray inside. Optional colors are available at no additional cost.
