Lowell Atlantic SkiffA Joy To Row
The Lowell Atlantic is a light variation of our Salisbury Point Rowing Skiff originally introduced for recreational use in the 1860's. We have designed the Atlantic for use on the open ocean by the experienced sculler or by the beginning recreational rower who wants a fast, safe family boat. The Lowell Atlantic can be rowed by one person using the sliding seat, outriggers, and a pair of 9'9" sculls, or by one or two people from stationary seats using standard oars. Traditional lines, exhilarating speed, and excellent seakeeping abilities make this beautiful boat a joy to row. At 150 pounds, the Lowell Atlantic is readily trailerable and can be easily launched and recovered single-handed.
Standard models are now made with cedar planking, oak stem and frames, and mahogany transom, thwarts and details. Fastenings are copper rivets and silicon bronze ring nails and screws. Bottoms are encapsulated in west system epoxy with fiberglass cloth on the outside. Standard finish is quality marine enamel on the hull and interior, and varnish on rails, transom and thwarts. Outriggers, removable sliding seat assembly, removeable ONBOARD sliding feet rowing system, brass half-oval rub strips, floor boards, oars, boat cover, boat dolly and trailer are also available. Standard features and finish can be customized which may either increase or lower the end cost. Unfinished boats are available at a substantially discounted price. Since all Lowell boats are handmade from patterns, dimensions are approximate. We reserve the right to alter our specifications when appropriate without prior notice.
